Crèche Management

Updated: May 19, 2020

Crèche’, Child care, otherwise known as day care, is the care and supervision of a child or multiple children at a time, whose ages range from six weeks to ten years. Child care is the action or skill of looking after children by a day-care center, nannies, babysitter, teachers or other providers.

Child care providers can be children's first teachers, and therefore play an integral role in systems of early childhood education. Quality care from a young age can have a substantial impact on the future successes of children. The main focus of childcare is on the development of the child, whether that be mental, social, or psychological.

Why is it called a Crèche?

A crèche is a representation of the scene of Jesus Christ's birth. ... Crèche is a French word that also refers to a nursery or day-care center. Say crèche to a British person and she'll assume you're talking about a day-care, 'cause that's what they call it across the pond.

To start with a preschool, the Government has laid out the broad parameters by coming out with clear definitions on:

  1. One teacher and one caregiver for every 20 children.

  2. A clear boundary wall demarcating the school from other structures.

  3. Sanitized toilets with soap, running water with towels for easy access to both normal and disabled children.

  4. CCTV surveillance for the rest room as well as play area.

  5. Pest control to be done on a regular basis. Sufficient fire protection measures

  6. Learning aids for the teachers based on the curriculum for each class

  7. Sports equipment in adequate numbers.

  8. The library should have books and relevant audio visual learning material

  9. The first aid kit has to be easily accessible and should always be well stocked

  10. Every child should be medically examined once a quarter by doctors registered with the medical council

  11. School has to maintain records pertaining to the enrollment as well as attendance along with the fees paid. They should also maintain details of the medical examination of each child and all these have to be accessible for inspection.
